OR

Join instructor Liz Domingue for a naturalist ramble through a geologically interesting, botanically rich, and simply unique area of the Smokies. We'll leave the main trail to explore an off-trail destinationan extensive sinkhole where up to 10 families resided before the Park was officially created. We'll enjoy the beauty of a delicate waterfall and discuss why this area is full of sinkholes and caves, why it is called a limestone window, and why it supports so many rare plants. This easy-to-moderate five-mile (roundtrip) hike includes a moderately steep descent into the sink and an ascent as we hike back out of the sink.

You must be 18 or older to register for and attend a Smoky Mountain Field School course.

Note: Participants are required to sign an electronic release and assumption of risk form before attending this course.
