Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Digital Photography I or instructor's approval

Close-up images don't encompass the grandeur of scenic images, but the closer view can be just as interesting and informative. This course introduces you to the basics of close-up photography, which requires an observant and discerning eye and the ability to see the artistic beauty in small details. It can be practiced almost anywhere once you learn to look for the details.

Lectures are minimized to allow time for you to photograph. Subjects, both natural and man-made, are furnished for each class session with the emphasis on learning by making photographs a hands-on approach. You'll be asked to submit some digital files of the photographs you make during class for critique and sharing.

You must have a digital camera and lens combination that make close-up photographs of at least 1/10 life size to life size or larger (close-up accessories can be used). There will be discussions/demonstrations of available close-up accessories that can be used with your current equipment. Your camera should be capable of using your own shoe-mounted flash unit(s). A suitable tripod is also required.
