This five-session course surveys evolving animation techniques for film and television. The late-19th and early 20th century saw the development of animation from Stuart Blackton and "Chalk Talks," Winsor McCay's shift from magazine illustrator to animator of short subjects, the Bray Studios' contributions to cel animation, and Flesicher Studios cementing the bond between newspaper comics and the animated screen with Betty Boop and Popeye. Through the 1920s, Disney Studios began its incredible run, pioneering work in sound and color as well as perfecting the feature-length animated film. We'll also cover television studios and animator/producers including Hanna-Barbera, Chuck Jones, Filmation (Star Trek: The Animated Series), Depatie-Freleng (The Pink Panther), Jay Ward (Rocky and Bullwinkle), and Bob Clampett (Beany and Cecil).
Fee: $119.00
