Become better acquainted with the birds of the Smokies as we investigate the basics of bird identification, behavior, birdsong, and ecology with a naturalist. Learn about the tools of the trade (e.g., binoculars and field guides), the skills needed to become a birder (such as patience and the ability to be still and quiet), and the importance of knowing what to look for when identifying birds.


You must be 18 or older to register for and attend a Smoky Mountain Field School course.

Note: Participants are required to sign an electronic release and assumption of risk form before attending this course.
