Let's explore the fall leaves, colorful fruits, mushrooms, and even a few fall wildflowers in one of the most spectacular old-growth forests in the Smokies! There is more going on in the fall forest than you may think. We'll enjoy the peak of fall leaf color, learn the names of the common eastern forest trees, and discuss why the flora here convinced the nation that the Smokies had to be preserved. This course includes a moderate 6.5-mile hike.
