Join outdoorsman and former Appalachian Bear Rescue board member Joey Holt for a day in the Park's backcountry. With a moderate hike, you'll search for food sources and possible den sites. With Holt's experience in tracking and interpreting terrain he'll provide you with the best opportunities to identity bear trails, tracks, scat, and other often-missed signs. Along your hike you will discuss hiking and camping safely in bear country as well as the dos and don'ts of bear encounters.

Smoky Mountain Field School instructor Joey Holt grew up in the foothills of the Smokies and earned his 900-miler status in 2012. He has been a lover of the outdoors all his life, enjoying activities such as camping and hiking.
