Several key elements make up a successful photographic portrait, including exposure, composition, color, and lighting. There is much room for creativity in the making of a beautiful portrait and this hands-on course will give you the opportunity to learn and develop the skills needed. We'll explore the use of natural light, reflectors and gobos, and strobe lighting—both on location and in a studio setting. You'll learn to examine situations you have been assigned to or have chosen and to create portraits that successfully draw attention to the subject. Handouts related to portrait photography and models will both be provided throughout the course. You'll need a camera with manual exposure capabilities with a hot-shoe or pc-sync terminal. A hot-shoe flash is also recommended.
