Kumi Alderman

Chef Kumi Alderman grew up cooking in her family-owned restaurant in Japan. She later worked as a tour conductor, giving her the opportunity to travel the world and experience an array of cuisines. While working in Japanese restaurants, she discovered she had a passion for sharing her Japanese food and culture and began teaching students how to make sushi in their own homes.

In 2014, Chef Alderman founded the non-profit Asian Culture Center of Tennessee and organized the Knox Asian Festival, an annual event held at World's Fair Park in Knoxville. She holds a BBA degree from Yamaguchi University.
